Community Gardens are always a welcoming place offering sanctuary and peace to everyone who volunteers there. Arkwright Community Gardens are no different. The Meadows is a vibrant and mixed community and the gardens are at the heart of it. Sanctuary seekers regularly use the gardens and one in particular has been attending for 2 years and has made good friends as a result. His skills have been put to good use in constructing a pagoda and repairing the shed. There is a strong sense of community and the gardens are keen to welcome more asylum seekers to volunteer and share the rewards of their work on the Tuesday lunch clubs. Green spaces are so important to people seeking sanctuary and this oasis is a perfect spot to join in with the work or just sit and relax in the sun with your friends.
