Nottingham City of Sanctuary is shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Bill Walton.  Bill worked tirelessly over many years with the refugee and asylum seeker community in Nottingham.  He was instrumental in working with the University of Nottingham and Student Action for Refugees (STAR) in setting up the IELTS English language sessions for the sanctuary seeking community in Nottingham, often going out and about in areas where he knew sanctuary seekers lived to encourage them to take part in language sessions and make them feel welcome.  He was a whirlwind of energy, always supportive and friendly to sanctuary seekers and his death will leave a large hole in the sanctuary seeking community.  We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to friends and relatives of Bill in the sanctuary seeking community in Nottingham and beyond.
