White Rose chain of charity shops pledge support for Nottingham City of Sanctuary

We are pleased to say that the White Rose chain of charity clothing shops in Nottingham and Newark have pledged support for Nottingham City of Sanctuary as part of our campaign to get Nottingham to publicly declare itself a city of sanctuary.

White Rose is part of the Aegis Trust, a Nottingham-based charity that works to prevent genocide worldwide and also has offices in the USA and Rwanda.  There are 7 shops in the chain and they were launched in 2010 by two graduates of Nottingham Trent University who visited Rwanda with Aegis students in 2008, so the roots of the charity and the shops really are in Nottingham.

The shops welcome applications from asylum seekers and refugees to volunteer in their stores and already have asylum seekers volunteering with them, giving them valuable retail experience and the chance to improve their spoken English.
