We’re joining forces with hundreds of charities and organisations such as Glastonbury festival, the Premier League, RNLI and the Countryside Alliance to be part of the Great Get Together – a nationwide event celebrating what we have in common.

Organised by the Jo Cox Foundation, the Great Get Together will take place over the weekend of 17 and 18 June, marking the anniversary of the death of Jo Cox MP. It hopes to be the UK’s largest ever community event, even bigger than the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, with people and organisations hosting street parties, picnics, talks and roadshows.

The aim is for people to come together in celebration and reflection, inspired by Jo who said what we hold in common is more important than that which divides us.

Promoting mutual understanding

We’re supporting the event because our humanity principle promotes mutual understanding, friendship and co-operation – we can bring people together and help them to connect with their community. The Great Get Together is the perfect way to promote Refugee Week which follows it, and our new Co-op funded Community Connector services can promote their work tackling loneliness. There are so many different opportunities to mobilise our people and raise awareness of the work we do across the UK helping those in crisis.

We’ll have our very own Great Get Together kit filled with tips, ideas and inspiration for how you can join in. this will be available to download soon. In the meantime, have a look at the Great Get Together website. https://greatgettogether.org/
